INGREDIENTS

3 Strawberries, hulled and quartered
¼ Lime, cut into wedges
2 Fresh Basil Leaves
o.5 fluid ounce Strawberry-Balsamic Shrub (recipe follows)
1.5 fluid ounces cachaça

2 cups Strawberries, hulled and chopped
2 cups High-Quality Aged Balsamic Vinegar
2 cups Sugar

Strawberry-Basil Caipirinha

A berry refreshing specialty cocktail you'll want to sip on all summer!

COOKING INSTRUCTIONS:

Making the Strawberry-Balsamic Shrub

  • Combine all the ingredients in a mixing bowl and stir until the sugar is dissolved
  • Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 5 to 8 days, stirring occasionally
  • Give it a taste | If the mixture seems too acidic, add more sugar in spoonfuls as needed
  • Strain the shrub through a fine-mesh sieve into a bottle with a lid, extracting as much liquid as possible | Discard the solids
  • Seal and store the shrub in the fridge for up to 6 months
  • Shake before using

Assemble the Cocktail

  • In a highball or Collins glass, combine the strawberries, lime, basil and shrub
  • Muddle until the strawberries and basil are completely broken down
  • Fill the glass three-quarters full with ice
  • Add the cachaça, stir, garnish with the basil sprig and strawberry and enjoy
