INGREDIENTS

1 extra large square or round ice cube
1 oz bourbon (Bulleit or Makers Mark)
2 tbsp. cranberry peppercorn shrub
3 oz seltzer

Cranberry Peppercorn Shrub

1 cup filtered water
2 tbsp. black peppercorns
2 cups whole frozen cranberries
5 cups + 4 tbsp. maple syrup
1 cup apple cider vinegar

Black Peppercorn Cranberry Fizz

'Tis the season. Get into the holiday spirit with some cranberry and spirits. This Fizzling spiced cocktail will keep you cheery all winter long.

Method

Making the Cranberry Peppercorn Shrub

  • simmer the water and peppercorns in a small sauce pan for 10 mins.
  • Add the cranberries and simmer until broken down and deep red in color. Approximately 15 mins.
  • Remove the saucepan from the heat and add the apple cider vinegar and maple syrup.
  • Strain and allow to cool.
  • Shrub can be refrigerated for up to 2 weeks.

Finishing the Cocktail

  • Add the ice cubes to a rocks glass.
  • Add the shrub and bourbon. Stir gently.
  • Run a rosemary sprig around the rim of the glass before resting on top of the cocktail.
  • Enjoy responsibly.
